Lincoln is 6 years old. At 12 weeks old Lincoln started having seizures after a 13 day stay in hospital having lots of tests he was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called tuberous sclerosis.
Tuberous sclerosis causes growths in various organs of the body, but those most commonly affected are the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs, Lincoln also has refractory polymorphic epilepsy, learning difficulties & autism.
Lincoln is non-verbal & has behaviour difficulties & attends a special needs school, his epilepsy is hard to control he has spent lots of time in hospital due to prolonged seizures resulting in him needing to be put on the ventilator on icu.
Lincoln doesn’t like to go out so apart from school we are home, we have been putting together a sensory room for him which he greatly enjoys , a place where he can relax and recover from his seizures or a place where he feels safe & secure.
Lincoln enjoys music and lights.
Lincoln is multi-sensory learning & greatly benefits from having sensory equipment at home.
With the £500 grant from Life For A Kid we will purchase Lincoln with bamboo fibre optics a bubble mirror, some squidgy shapes a twilight turtle & soft play mat with cushions.
