Words from Jakes Mum
“Jake suffers from cerebral palsy and is unable to walk unaided and also struggles with day to day things we all take for granted, Jake has been accepted to have an operation in the US that will improve his mobility and can even help him walk unaided something we can only dream of, we so far have raised 32k but need to raise 50k for the op and aftercare we have already had to cancel two dates for the op as had not reached our target.”
Words from Jake
“Hi my name is Jake
“I was born on 26th January 2010 and everything looked good but when I got to about 8 months old my Mummy & Daddy started to worry as I was not hitting my milestones like my brothers and sister did.
“They took me to the doctors and that is when all the tests started happening, it was not nice but I was a very brave boy. Then just before I turned two they told us I had Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Diplegia). I love to play with my toys and really like reading books but one thing I would love to do is run around like all two year olds do at the moment. I am unable to walk or even sit on my own for too long.
“I have Physio once a week and Mummy & Daddy help me which is painful and sometimes makes me cry but all they want is to help me. I have just been accepted for an operation in St Louis (USA) called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy by a great doctor called Dr Park who has helped lots of children like me and with this operation I will have a better life and maybe even walk on my own one day. If you can help me and make my dreams come true I would be very happy.
